Mnemo privacy policy

Last updated October 19, 2026.

Mnemo has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and no Mnemo server. The app sends me nothing, and I don't sell or share your personal information.

Where your cards live

Your decks, cards, study history, settings and the pictures in your cards are stored on your iPhone. Your cards show up in Spotlight search on your iPhone, and the Mnemo widgets read a copy of your next cards from storage on your iPhone that the app shares with them.

Your cards leave your iPhone when you export a deck or your collection, when you choose a folder for nightly backups, or when AI help sends a card to Anthropic with your own key (see AI help below). A backup is saved in the folder you chose, which can be on your iPhone, in iCloud Drive, or with another storage provider such as Google Drive. That provider's privacy policy applies to the files you put there.

Two more things reach beyond the phone. If iCloud Backup is on, your iPhone's own backup includes Mnemo's data, as it does for other apps. And if a card shows a picture linked from a website rather than stored in the deck, your iPhone loads that picture from the website.

AI help

Memory aids, Smart answer checking, fill-in-the-blank and adding a card by voice use Apple's model on your iPhone, on iPhones with Apple Intelligence.

You can also add your own Anthropic API key in Settings › AI help. Mnemo then uses Anthropic's Claude first for memory aids, and for the other features only when Apple Intelligence isn't available or can't answer. Cards in a deck you mark phone-only (Settings › AI help › Phone-only decks) are never sent to Anthropic. For everything else, Mnemo sends Anthropic only what the feature needs:

When you save the key, Mnemo shows this list and turns Claude on only if you tap Allow sending to Anthropic. Removing the key turns it off.

Each request goes straight from your iPhone to Anthropic under your own Anthropic account, so Anthropic's privacy policy and your account's data settings apply to it. I never see your key or what is sent.

Voice and Siri

In hands-free review, your speech is turned into text on your iPhone when your iPhone supports that. Otherwise Apple's speech recognition handles it under Apple's privacy policy. Mnemo doesn't save your audio or send it anywhere itself. The voices that read your cards run on your iPhone.

When you use Mnemo with Siri, Siri works under Apple's privacy policy.

Purchases

Apple handles subscriptions and purchases. Mnemo learns only whether you have Mnemo Unlimited; it never sees your payment details.

Diagnostics

If you turn on Share With App Developers (in the iPhone's Settings app, Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple sends me anonymous crash reports and performance data. Mnemo adds nothing of its own to them.

iOS also gives Mnemo the same kind of reports on your iPhone. Mnemo keeps the latest 30 there (in Mnemo, Settings › About Mnemo › Diagnostic reports), and one leaves your iPhone only if you share it.

Support email

If you email support, I use your message and address only to reply to you.

Children

Mnemo isn't directed at children under 13, and the app sends me no information about anyone.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes your collection and settings from your iPhone. iOS can keep your Anthropic API key in the iPhone's keychain after the app is gone, so remove the key in Settings › AI help first if you want it deleted too. Backups and exports stay in the folders you saved them to until you delete them there. Requests sent to Anthropic with your API key are kept according to your Anthropic account's settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
